Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience Culture: Dance, Music, and Tradition in Tropical North Queensland
Australia’s Aboriginal communities are the keepers of the world’s oldest cultures, with a history spanning over 60,000 years! Dive into this rich heritage at the Rainforestation Nature Park, where the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience awaits you.
Pamagirri Dance Show
Set in a stunning rainforest arena, the Pamagirri Dance Performance brings dreamtime stories to life against lush greenery and native wildlife sounds. Watch as captivating dances featuring the didgeridoo and clapsticks tell traditional stories. You’ll even hear the calls of kangaroos and kookaburras! Don’t miss the surprise ending that adds more magic to the show.
Dreamtime Walk
Join your Pamagirri Aboriginal Guide for a walk through the world’s oldest rainforest. Hear stories of their spiritual connection to the land and learn about the plants, fruits, and berries used for bush tucker and medicine. Discover the traditional uses of these resources for shelters, relics, and tools. Participate in a spear-throwing lesson guided by experts with record-breaking skills, and try your hand at this ancient hunting technique.
Aboriginal Art Workshop
Before your rainforest walk, immerse yourself in the Aboriginal Art Workshop. Learn about the cultural significance of totems and body painting, and try to create your artwork under the guidance of skilled artisans.
Boomerang Throwing
Boomerangs aren’t just for hunting—they’re fun to play with! After a quick lesson from your Pamagirri Guide, you’ll be ready to throw a boomerang and watch it return. Don’t worry; there are plenty of nets to catch any stray throws!
Rainforestation Adventures
Beyond the Pamagirri Experience, Rainforestation Nature Park offers even more adventures. Visit the Koala and Wildlife Park to meet Australia’s iconic animals up close. Cuddle a koala and snap a souvenir photo, or explore the park to see various furry friends. Take an Army Duck Tour to seamlessly transition from land to water on an exciting river cruise.
For an added treat, consider a one-way ticket on the Kuranda Scenic Railway or the Skyrail Cableway to complete your day of exploration.
